Kenneth’s Popularity Soars after The Hippocratic Crush- Eileen Cha Interview

March 25, 2012 at 5:18 pm (interviews, the hippocratic crush)

Cute interview, glad his popularity is being acknowledged!

Notes of interest:

  • Tavia has lost all “fantasies” for Kenneth cuz he tells everyone they’re beautiful (Tav: “I know I’m beautiful, shut up!”) Haha, that is so cute. He says he flirts with Tavia, Sharon and Selena (his old time partners)
  • Asked whether he tells Mandy she’s pretty, he says yes, because she’s rather pretty and that Mandy is very fresh and tomboyish.
  • Kenneth gets along with Nathan and Gigi – he praises Nathan as being quick-witted and bonds over being part of TVB Acting Class.
  • Tavia couldn’t remember her tumor name, but Kenneth does lol.
  • Nancy guest stars for 6 sec in THC for free – Not only Nancy came to visit on set; lots of ppl came to visit to see the OR due to the technology. He’s known the director since TVB Acting Class and had done a guest star role in “The Family Link” for a few sec as a lawyer (MK Sun) under this director too.
  • Did you date Nancy? Yes but we broke up. She doesn’t have Princess Disease; Kenneth says Eileen knows her too and that she knows she doesn’t have those issues; personalities incompatibilities was the reason for the break up. They are still friends – they broke up peacefully. Kenneth gentlemanly defends Nancy (aw…), but as I mentioned before, this is the reason girls might be concerned to date him: if anything goes wrong in a relationship w/ MM, it’s always gonna be assumed there’s something wrong with the girl lol.
  • Kenneth said when he was young, if a girl smiled at him, he’ll think they liked him so now he is slow in these things
  • No girl has every took initiative to tell him she liked him and he, himself, will take initiative in pursuing girls (he’s failed before lol); he’s never had two girls to choose from
  • Internet guy fans cheer on Kenneth cuz he admits he watches online porn. He feels that its normal and does not want to “pretend” to be innocent. (“I cannot say that because of the fans, I’m keeping my innocence aka not dating”) haha. love Kenneth. He doesn’t like to pretend.
  • Kenneth wants to film in Mainland despite offers. Scheduling conflicts. Won’t happen this year because after Prominent Family (no script, only written on the spot – wow) will be Triumphs In the Skies II.
  • Kenneth’s dubbed as Hot Property #2, Moses being the first. Kenneth comments he’s not and people that are single like Raymond are the Hot Properties. I still don’t get why Kenneth isn’t above Moses haha, I would totally take MaMing over him any day lol!
  • Kenneth’s hobby of collecting Donald Duck mentioned again lol. He has over 1000 even though some have already been donated. This hobby started when he was 10 yo. He likes that Donald Duck has a cute big butt (OMG kenneth…) and his personality (greedy, perverted, angry) – he’s very human unlike Mickey Mouse who is too perfect.
  • She doesn’t think he’ll ever be irritated, but Kenneth says he will, especially when things are annoying. He’ll not talk if he’s angry. He’s waited for girls in restaurant before (1 or so hours) but she didn’t come. He isn’t mad about it and he didn’t ask why.
  • He says Daisy is very girly and he likes long eyelashes
  • He used to like long legs and pretty girls but now he’s less about looks. He’s waiting for ppl to intro him to girls outside the entertainment industry but nothing came out of it; when they say there’s someone, the girl would start dating someone else by the next week or they won’t have pictures lol. Mandy & Selena are all talk
  • He never sensed Tavia & Him were dating, but they did all talk about going BBQing but Him never called him lol.
  • Kenneth felt lost at a point (cuz he doesn’t make enough money); someone recommended an Indian flick to him and inspired him
  • He loved acting at a young age but he got to a point where he realized liking it isn’t enough, money is necessary to raise a family too.
  • After the movie, he resumed mindset to enjoying his job; he’s loves his job
  • Yat Kin Tau role got him more projects/events; thanks his AA who helps him arrange it
  • He calls his 2nd sister’s little boys “little demons”

After 4 epis, the show and Kenneth were already very popular!

Have you met any co-stars that do not practice? He diplomatically says that there person is probably wants to use “the most fresh feeling to ignite something new.” lol ah Kenneth, so good at not offending others.

He said the old Kenneth would practice everything to the T and that he was very “stubborn.” He feels like there needs to be a balance now.

I love how Kenneth, when asked if he was popular due to the doctor’s role, he went on to say Doctors have a tough job and that there aren’t enough in the ER.

Nancy Wu denies trying to patch her relationship with Kenneth Ma

November 18, 2011 at 5:00 am (nancy wu)

Nancy Wu and Kenneth Ma have been rumored for several years now. Last year it was said they broke up, but yesterday a magazine reported again that Nancy is working hard trying to patch things up. It was rumored she asked TVB to give her the chance to go work in New Zealand with Kenneth, so she can patch things up while at work. Also, she passed the ‘mother-in-law’ test and successfully got back together with Kenneth. Yesterday Nancy denied the rumor and stressed she has only been good friends with Kenneth all along. They have never dated before.

Regarding the trip this month to New Zealand with Kenneth, as guest performers for the Miss Chinese International Pageant, Nancy was said to be taking the opportunity to patch up her relationship. She laughed and said she doesn’t have the ability to ask TVB to do anything. This time, her trip to New Zealand is entirely arranged by TVB. She stressed she never dated Kenneth and has always been good friends, so she sees this report as a joke. However, Nancy welcomes anyone to give her and Kenneth jobs, they can earn money together as an on-screen couple. As if there is a chance to develop a relationship with Kenneth? She said Kenneth is a very good man, but it is all about fate.

Nancy Wu Unable to Stop Loving Kenneth Ma After Breaking Up 1 Year Ago

As one of TVB’s diamond bachelors, Kenneth Ma (馬國明) was renowned as a filial son without any sinful habits. Kenneth Ma and Nancy Wu (胡定欣) allegedly started dating in 2008 for two years and broke up in April 2010 due to Nancy’s princess attitude. According toNext Magazine, Kenneth allegedly possessed a recent change in heart and allowed Nancy to re-enter his life once again.

Nancy Wu received critical acclaim for her convincing performances as a selfish lawyer inForensic Heroes 3 <法證先鋒3> and ambitious concubine in Curse of the Royal Harem <萬鳳之王>. After completing the filming of Lucky Father <當旺爸爸>, Nancy found out that Kenneth was scheduled to travel to New Zealand for a guest performance in a local Chinese pageant on October 30th. Since Nancy’s next series did not start filming yet, she requested to appear at the same event that Kenneth was attending, sparking a 5-day-4-night trip to mend their former relationship!

Outside of their work engagements, Nancy allegedly glued herself by Kenneth’s side to offer her attentive care. Nancy and Kenneth were photographed dining together in New Zealand. Perhaps Nancy’s efforts to reconcile their relationship were highly effective!

On November 7th, Kenneth and Nancy returned to Hong Kong from their New Zealand trip. The pair were spotted chatting non-stop at the Hong Kong airport, with Kenneth dutifully hauling Nancy’s luggage while her hands swung freely by her side. Entering the airport’s main reception area, which was filled with a large crowd, Kenneth and Nancy purposely maintained their distance. Since avid fans received Kenneth at the airport, Nancy quickly boarded a car and waited for Kenneth to finish signing autographs with fans. Afterwards, the pair returned to Tai Koo Shing together.

Nancy originally lived in Tuen Mun with her family. When she started dating Kenneth in 2008, she moved to the same residential grounds as Kenneth. Their buildings were only one block apart, requiring only three minutes walking time.

It was rumored that Kenneth and Nancy’s romantic sparks ignited in 2008 during their training and participation in Strictly Come Dancing 2 <舞動奇跡2>. Good friends, Sharon Chan (陳敏之) and Christine Ng (伍詠薇), put in their efforts to match Kenneth with Nancy. After dating Kenneth for only three months, Nancy allegedly resumed her unreasonable personality and often threw tantrums at him.

An inside source close to Nancy commented, “Nancy’s personality was too blunt. Initially, she was very gentle while dating Kenneth, but she could not maintain it and resumed her old unstable personality. When Nancy was stressed at work, she released her tantrums upon Kenneth, who let her have her ways at first. Kenneth tolerated the situation for one year. Afterwards, Nancy frequently complained that Kenneth only paid attention to his family. Since Kenneth was a filial son, things worsened when their arguments revolved around his family. As a result, Kenneth initiated the break up.”

Nancy Wants Kenneth Back

It was understood that Nancy did not stop loving Kenneth and attempted to reconcile their relationship several times. Allegedly, Nancy could not accept the break up reality. During a private gathering for A Fistful of Stances <鐵馬尋橋>, Nancy got drunk and took advantage of the circumstances to apologize to Kenneth, “I’m a bad girl; I’m not good!” The situation made Kenneth feel extremely embarrassed.

After their recent New Zealand trip together, Nancy was very happy and could not resist posting a photo taken with Kenneth on her blog. Despite this, at the November 10th press conference unveiling the nominations for the TVB Anniversary Awards, Nancy and Kenneth maintained their distanced and pretended they did not know each other well.

Despite their breakup last year, Nancy continued to live in Tai Koo Shing, which was only three minutes away from Kenneth’s house, latching on the excuse to travel to work together and curry the favor of Kenneth’s mother. Allegedly, before Nancy’s 30th birthday and after her solo vacation to Europe, she expressed her heartfelt wishes to Kenneth, successfully changing his mind and winning his acceptance again.

An insider revealed, “Kenneth brought Nancy home to introduce to his mother in the past and share meals together. Realizing that Kenneth was a filial son, Nancy knew that earning his mother’s favor will help her in winning Kenneth back. Once in awhile, Nancy will call Kenneth’s mother to talk to her and give gifts on holidays. Nancy did these things to demonstrate that she has changed and knew how to care about Kenneth’s family.”

Nancy Insists That She Is Only Good Friends With Kenneth

Speaking with Ming Pao, Nancy insisted that she did not ask TVB to send her to New Zealand in order to spend time with Kenneth. Nancy clarified that TVB made the work arrangements. Nancy stressed that she and Kenneth have always been friends and did not date in the past. Nancy laughed over tabloid claims that she had attempted to reconcile her relationship with Kenneth.

Nancy welcomed advertisers interested in inviting Kenneth and herself to appear at joint promotions together. Asked whether there was potential development with Kenneth, Nancy said that he was a very good man, but it will depend upon romantic fate.

Comments: Finally, some Kenneth news! I really do hope this is true. Kenneth’s my fav actor & Nancy’s my fav actress, and they look  great together. However, they could really just be friends haha. I don’t see why they should deny it; why can’t they just tell the truth like they do in Hollywood? Recently, Nancy said in an interview that she was “starting to see someone new” so I assumed it was someone else, but she could have just been trying to throw us off! Nancy does seem blunt, outgoing and tomboyish, which doesn’t match with “the princess syndrome.” I really do not like how they’re painting her to be so desperate & making it seem like Kenneth doesn’t really like her!  I feel like since they’re such opposites, that may have caused their first breakup if there was indeed one. Kenneth may seem perfect on paper, but an overly filial son who is not very romantic could be aggravating at times and not for everyone. I hope they can work it out and that Nancy doesn’t just hold on to him because he seems like such a great catch. Let’s hope that this 2nd go will be successful (Yoyo Chen & Vincent Wong gave me hope for TVB love). While I still hold onto hope for BK since Bernice is single again, I really love KeNancy too.

Why hasn’t TVB promoted them as a “couple” yet? It beats seeing Moses run around with Aimee! 😛  I’m really happy to see Nancy’s career reaching new heights as well, but it seems Kenneth’s has become a little stagnant? I’m hoping he’ll get an awesome role this upcoming year!

Let’s keep our fingers crossed that it ends up like this…

Kenneth Ma Searches Everywhere For Script!

August 11, 2011 at 7:18 pm (news)

The previous night, when Kenneth Ma (馬國明) appeared in Tai Hang to film, he unexpectedly had a little incident and it unfolded like a scene out of a comedy. To facilitate filming, Kenneth Ma, who was donned in filming attire, left his script on the ground. Unexpectedly, the security guard of the apartment nearby mistook the script as trash, picked it up and threw it into the dustbin of the apartment block.

After shooting a line of dialogue, Kenneth Ma came back and was astonished to find the script gone. He then searched everywhere furiously for the script. Upon knowing that it had been thrown away by the security guard, he immediately ran into the apartment building and requested to be let in to retrieve his script. The scene was indeed rather comical.

After that incident, Kenneth resumed his professionalism, continued filming and practiced dialogues and which position to stand in with his co-star. Because the weather was very hot and humid, as soon as there was a break, the crew quickly stepped up to wipe his sweat and touch up his makeup.

Comments: Mr. Ma, you’re just too adorable! He looks really good here; I wonder what he’s filming for? I love how he’s got that goofy smile and glint in his eyes all the time, despite the frustration!

TVB 43rd Anniversary Awards 2010 – My Favorite Male Character: Kenneth Ma – Gu Yu Tong (A Fistful of Stances)

December 14, 2010 at 6:43 pm (A Fistful of Stances, anniversary, bosco wong, kate tsui, kevin cheng, Ron Ng, selena li, the mysteries of love, toby leung, tvb anniversary)

With the Awards’ season coming to an end, I believe most of us expected, though were still disappointed, that Kenneth would not receive an award for Gu Yu Tong (AFOS). However, I think the biggest shock of all was not Raymond Lam winning for the oh-so-plain-and-boring-I-wear-tight-pants-&-weird-vests Kingsley (dude, what kind of name is that anyways?), but that A Fistful of Stances didn’t even make the Top 5 series of the year. TVB are you serious? I personally thought AFOS was one of THE best series of the year. It started off the year right. Given that I have not seen NR, I will not judge, but it’s over-hyping is slightly nauseating me. While I did not think I’d like CBML initially, I ended up finding it pretty entertaining, though it was no-where near Best Series material. ACOTOB was a dark-horse in Top 5 for sure, and while I enjoyed the series much to my surprise, I really felt it was mediocre. It is an easily forgettable series. And then there’s TMOL….it was a bad series with a likable cast, and it does NOT belong in top 5 despite my love for BK & Tavia. Not to mention, every character was pretty much annoying. My choices for Favorite series are: AFOS, GMG, EMYM (I surprisingly enjoyed it), & I guess the two other anniversary series just based on popularity. I just have to say that I’m particularly amused at how TVB strategically aired AFOS at the beginning of the year, so people would forget it by Anniversary time. I guess they see the series & Kenneth as a threat (cause more uproar if he didn’t get anything) against their anniversary series. It was also a lame move to not let GMG finish airing before the Awards Ceremony.

As we knew early on this year, the contenders were Wayne, Moses, Raymond, and dark-horses Steven & Felix. There was not a doubt in my mind that the first 3 were going to take the Male Actor Awards home. Of course, you can’t blame a girl for dreaming. Kenneth’s performance in AFOS was amazing, and a definite breakthrough. Just the year prior, I was worried that Kenneth would never get a good role like MK Sun again, which was a contender for the Favorite Character Award in 2009. However, he came back strong this year with Gu Yu Tong, which deserved a Best Actor nomination. I am still amazed at how TVB can honestly not nominate him for the Best Actor award, but yet, list Kevin for AFOS and Bosco for GTL (among a few). If you’ve seen the series, no explanation is necessary, and you know who gave the better performance and was lead. While Steven is a deserving candidate for the awards, he did not deserve it for GW, and I have come to the conclusion long ago that Steven will NEVER get an award. Unless he gets super lucky and causes an unexpected uproar like Wayne did last year, as long as TVB is in control, he won’t get anything. Wayne is a great actor and among the five, I’m glad he won. Moses is a good actor as well, but I get tired of his comedies, and I know he can do so much more/better (Can TVB please give him a serious role?). Raymond is a good actor too (haha, this is getting repetitive), but he is always the same character, the prince-charming who bawls over a girl breaking his heart and he’s never exceptional. Felix was a refreshing lead, and while I liked GMG, I did not think he was as amazing nor was the series as great as everyone says it is. With all that said, I am secretly really happy that Raymond got this award (which I already expected) instead of Steven, because TVB just made a fine display of favoritism and instead of being happy for Steven, people are feeling sorry that Kenneth was robbed. 😀 I am still upset, however, that the media is feeling bad for Moses for being robbed of My Favorite Character, despite all the voices online (overseas) saying that Kenneth deserved it! (As seen in the screen-cap of the Asianfanatics.net poll, where Kenneth is in the lead)

Kenneth is pulling off his bald look very nicely, and I love how the “Ma’s Brothers” were together on stage. Of course, I know Kenneth can do a better “chok” look and look super-handsome doing it, but his choice of shaking his head up and down just makes him the adorable MaMing we love. I was sad that Kenneth walked with Kate again, I was hoping for Nancy lol.

On a side note: Congrats Raymond Wong!!! (baby & award) Very deserving, though I loved ALL the contenders for Most Improved Male. As for the girls, I was sad Selena didn’t win. I don’t think Natalie is a that good of an actress, and no matter how touching her speech was, I felt there was so many people more deserving than her. My Best Supporting Actor choices were Dominic and Derek. Wing Tak (AFOS) was awesome and Dominic is just a great actor in general, but I was leaning more towards Derek (9 -Mui from SOF) because I don’t think he’d have much of a chance any other year. Derek is a great actor, but I haven’t liked one of his characters in a long time (used to love his evil roles) until 9-Mui in Season of Fate. He reminded me why I used to like him. Personally, I’m not much of a fan of Evergreen in general.

As for Best Supporting Actress, I think everyone in Top 5 was deserving. I secretly was cheering for Elena Kong (Angela Auntie) because she was just superb! I knew her chances were slim though so I was in support of Kara. While I love Nancy, I didn’t think she deserved this award for GMG (though her crying has gotten really good). Fala is an up-and-coming actress, but of the contenders she was the least deserving. Can’t they just wait for it to be her time? I’m sure it’d come soon, so why is TVB forcing us to believe she’s the best? Fala does not need your “help.” I secretly have always wished Rebecca Chan would at least get a nomination for Best Supporting.

As for Toby’s statement, I see some people sort of bashing her for it. While Ron did look awkward, I thought it was an adorable situation and display of their friendship. I already knew they were close, and I thought it was cute how Ron was embarrassed. Statements like those are just typical of Toby, and I personally love her craziness! (While she may not be the best, I Toby has been improving, but I still want her to go back to long hair and singing!)

My Choices:

Best Actress – Michelle Yim (SOF)

Best Actor – Wayne Lai

My Favorite Character – Charmaine Sheh & Kenneth Ma

Most Improved – Raymond Wong & Selena Li

With all that said, I’m sure Kenneth will not disappoint and will come out with an equally, if not more likable, character in the near future. In all our hearts, you’re a winner Kenneth!

Selena Li & Nancy Wu deny being “New Old Mrs. Kenneth Ma”

June 3, 2010 at 10:45 pm (nancy wu, selena li)

It was rumored that Kenneth Ma and Nancy Wu’s relationship ended and that new love sparks happened between Kenneth and Selena Li after filming a series together. The two “Mrs. Ma” attended a HK soccer event, where the organizers arranged a Kenneth Ma cardboard figure pretending to take a group photo with them. The two girls could not help but laugh at the funny scene.

Selena heard the new titles of “New Old Mrs. Kenneth Ma” and immediately denied then looked at Nancy and said: “I’m not! She is?” Nancy embarrassingly smiled: “I don’t know either, it’s just what the news said and is the past now.” Selena frankly said that when she and Kenneth started, she coincidentally wasn’t even in HK. It was only when she returned to HK that she found about the rumors, so she was extremely clueless.

Both girls were asked if they would fall in love with the same guy? Selena said: “I don’t think so, I don’t like to fight for guys, I just feel it’s troublesome, I rather not deal with it.” Nancy said: “From what I see usually, I don’t think we like the same things.” As their rumors get brought up by the event organizers, Nancy expressed that she knew about the rumors being involved beforehand, she said: “Actually before when we were filming series, the rumors were already constantly going on and plus Kenneth’s role as a playboy in his new series , this is good series promotion!”

It was said that Selena didn’t break up with Patrick Tang, so the relationship becomes a square of love. Selena said embarassingly: “Not related.” Both Selena and Nancy said that they are good friends with Kenneth.

Kenneth Ma ‘Splits’ from Nancy Wu, Chases Selena Li Instead

May 7, 2010 at 8:55 pm (nancy wu, selena li)

Thirty-six year-old, Kenneth Ma Kwok Ming, is a renown filial son who currently lives with his parents in Tai Koo Shing. Kenneth has been rumored with TVB colleague, Nancy Wu Ding Yan, ever since their collaboration on a dance show in 2008.

Recently, there were rumors that due to Kenneth being dissatisfied with Nancy’s princess attitude, the pair have split. Allegedly, Kenneth requested breaking-up and chased after Selena Li Sze Wan instead.

Allegedly, during the filming of A Fistful of Stances <鐵馬尋橋> last year, Kenneth developed feelings for Selena. To make Selena happy, he often bought breakfast and supper for her. This aroused the curiosity of fellow cast members.

When Selena officially broke up with Patrick Tang at the end of 2009, Kenneth started openly pursuing her. Allegedly, in March 2010, he succeeded in winning Selena’s heart. On April 18th, Selena and Kenneth were spotted leaving in the same car, after the cast and crew viewing of the finale of A Fistful of Stances together.

*Here’s the Entertainment CSI clip about KeNancy break up. Most of there stories are completely ridiculous anyways but its a nice way to keep up w/ Entertainment gossip, short n sweet especially for those who don’t/can’t read mags!

Comments: Haha, this is kinda ridiculous, the way they’re making it sound. I totally wouldn’t mind a KenSelena pairing but i don’t want KeNancy to break up! I really wanna see a KeNancy series. I guess reporters really wanna make news for Kenneth! Glad that at least he’s always rumored w/ girls i like! hahha. This rumors just give me an excuse to put up pix! ;-D I just love how they manage to have several versions of the KeNancy break up despite the fact that they’ve never admitted to ever dating lol.

Kenneth Ma finally receives recognition and another level in his career

April 21, 2010 at 9:31 pm (kevin cheng) ()

TVB series “A Fistful of Stances” had become a hit series as viewers followed the series with excitement. This influence was similar to “Heart of Greed”. Since last year’s “E.U” and “Rosy Business” there hasn’t been a series that has given the same influence for a long time. Each episode of “A Fistful of Stances” gives off a exciting cliff hanger and dramatic touch. Seeing the evil characters over powering would make one feel angry, yet seeing them being caught gives off a feeling of release. It also reminds people that the “Good will be rewarded with good and evil with evil”.

The most appealing character in the series isn’t Tavia Yeung’s “Au Yeung Wai Lan”, neither is it Kevin Cheng’s “Koo Yue Cheung”. But Kenneth Ma who play’s “Koo Yue Tong”. Kenneth who has been in the industry for 10 years has finally received recognition for his acting and reached another level in his career.

Kenneth is one the Siu Sang’s in TVB who hasn’t encountered a role which has left a deep impression on the audience. Although you could say his acting is very good, there is still something missing to become a first male lead. Whether it’s luck or something else is still not clear. But since the airing of “A Fistful of Stances” you can tell Kenneth’s Luck has finally arrived. Every time he is on screen he grabs the audience’s attention. He naturally draws the viewer to get hooked into his character’s emotions. No matter if he’s happy or sad the viewer would get touched by it.

Kevin Cheng: Past TV King loses spark

As for first male lead Kevin Cheng, he seems to have clearly lost the spark from “Second male lead” Kenneth. Perhaps it’s because Kenneth totally released himself to play the role therefore could touch the hearts of viewers. Kevin’s role as “Koo Yue Cheung” still maintained a similar style to his previous roles. It didn’t seem be very natural. The way he carried his speech is still not done freely. Kevin’s performance wasn’t appealing this time.

Dominic Lam: Deserves “Best Villain” award

Dominic Lam who plays Villain “Wing Dak” certainly gave his best performance and acted his role very well. If he was out in the street perhaps people would throw eggs at him to show hatred of his character. If TVB was to award “Best Villain”, Dominic Lam certainly deserves it.

Break up rumors, Kenneth Ma supports Nancy Wu that she’s not vain

April 13, 2010 at 4:52 pm (nancy wu)

Yesterday break up rumors between rumored couple Kenneth Ma and Nancy Wu circulated. It was said that Tracy Ip introduced Nancy to a wealthy man, so she cold-heartedly flinged off Kenneth. However both Kenneth and Nancy thought the reports were a joke and that it is not true at all. Kenneth also strongly supported Nancy that she’s not a person who likes vanity. He said: “If this is true then she doesn’t need to be working so hard in filming series. A girl getting painted black like that is just not good.”

Towards the rumors, Nancy was extremely helpless, she said: “The most frustrating part is that the reports said my family is in financial decline. Actually besides the name being correct on the story, everything else is made up. The person who wrote the story can become a scriptwriter. (The report said that you and Tracy Ip are good friends?) We are colleagues. They just pulled her into the water this time, she’s really innocent.”

Producer Nelson Cheung: Charmaine Sheh & Dayo Wong gives surprises (mentions Kenneth & Tavia)

March 26, 2010 at 7:45 pm (tavia yeung)

TVB Producer Nelson Cheung has been in behind the scenes television industry for 30 years, relying boldly on innovative characters to generate applaud by the public. Some of his productions include Charmaine Sheh and Dayo Wong’s “You’re Hired” and Roger Kwok and Sonjia Kwok’s “D.I.E” which has left deep impressions on audience. Among them, the Charmaine and Dayo fresh new combination created a strong chemical effect, giving happiness to all.

At an early age, Nelson has always loved to watch comedy flicks. Because of the accelerating Hong Kong film industry in the 70s and 80s, he was able to get into production and filming work. He joined ATV in 1979 as a PA and was promoted to director after 2 years. In 1985, he switched over to TVB and was promoted to a producer in 1989. Some of his productions includes: “One Step Beyond”、”Love Is Beautiful”、”Dicey Business”、”D.I.E”, “You’re Hired”, etc, moving forward into his television career and earning a very good reputation.

Nelson had also always had an adventurous spirit, so he is brave on the roles he creates for the artists he uses. Back in 1991, he decided to use Dicky Cheung and Deric Wan for the comedy series “One Step Beyond”, it was so funny that it left memorable impressions on audience. His recent production “Your Hired”, he decided to use Charmaine Sheh and Dayo Wong for a fresh new pairing, not only did audience applaud to the idea, but even Nelson felt surprised at the great success the pairing gave off.

Admires Dayo Wong, Charmaine Sheh surprises you

He said: “I really admire Dayo Wong. He is one talented performer and he is very hard working. Every time he does a series, he would do a lot of homework for it. From TV series to stand up comedy, he is the best. He is a very generous person, whatever new ideas he thinks of, he’ll definitely share it with others. When filming series, he doesn’t know that his acting is good, but he would look after otehr artists, getting into character together. Charmaine, although she’s one of the most popular actresses, but she really uses her heart to act. Not only does she fulfill the producer’s requirements well, but many times she would give you many surprises along with it. So Dayo and Charmaine both give off good sparks. I also discovered that Charmaine really does have good comedy acting skills.”

Supports Kenneth Ma, Tavia Yeung

Speaking of the rising stars, Nelson felt among the new rising Siu Sangs Kenneth Ma’s acting is the most solid. New rising FaDan, he supports Tavia. He said: “I have worked with most of the new rising siu sangs, every one of them have their own strengths and hard work, but for acting Kenneth Ma is definitely the one that is most solid. Perhaps he knows he needs to put up the go down the acting path. As for FaDans, Tavia Yeung I support, she’s like a military worker. Maybe its because whatever role you give her, she will put all her efforts into it for you, I have seen her improving all along.”

Kevin Cheng & Kenneth Ma’s Charm: Talks about Work, Girls, Rumors

March 24, 2010 at 7:47 pm (kevin cheng)

Kevin Cheng & Kenneth Ma’s Charm: Talks about Work, Girls, Rumors

The two big men Kevin Cheng and Kenneth Ma got together to talk about work, rumors, girls, having daughters and everything there is, they can even laugh about everything. These two good brothers with similar minds gave mutual praises to each other: “He’s so handsome”, “He’s so sweet”. They also have their own preferences on work and girls, so there’s no fear of hurting their relationship.

The Him in Their Eyes
Kevin and Kenneth’s “brotherhood fate” started last year during <Strictly Come Dancing>. At the time, the two didn’t know each other that well, until they worked together on <A Fistful of Stances> as brothers. It was only then that the two began to know one another at a deeper level understanding each other’s charms.

Kevin: “To me, Kenneth is a very sweet, cute and simple big kid. He likes soccer, cars and is easily loved by others. He’s very serious and stubborn towards work, this type of stubbornness is one of his positive as well as negative character traits. Sometimes he would bring trouble to work. I also have this type of stubbornness, so we get along well. For example, waiting for an opportunity to come, I believe that opportunities are reserved for people who are prepared for it, once this opportunity comes, he will take advantage of it. Chai Gau (Wayne Lai) have been waiting for so many years, Kenneth shouldn’t wait too long!”

Kenneth: Kevin Cheng in my eyes, before we collaborated I have already heard a lot of gossip relating to him. Most of them were about how he’s very troublesome and is hard to get along with. Before I met him, I saw him at an event and he looked very cool, not saying a word, felt like he had a gate in front of him and at that time I thought he was hard to get along with. Until we worked on <A Fistful of Stances>, the people around me told me, “He’s pretty hard to get along with!” but after working with him more, I quickly changed my impression on him. Actually the public misunderstood and is biased towards Kevin. Like he said, perhaps its because we both have a type of stubbornness towards work, so we just click so well. But at first when I didn’t know him well, I really felt like he’s mysterious, especially to his juniors like me, I’m afraid to say something wrong, don’t know if he’ll get angry. After knowing him more, I realized that Kevin is a very professional artist. Maybe the public is focused more on Kevin’s handsome looks, I feel that he’s pretty handsome, but also hope audience can see that he’s got “good material” in his acting, don’t just look at appearances. In <A Fistful of Stances>, there are a few scenes of his that were quite memorable to me.

Kevin: I don’t agree that I’m mysterious (laughs), but I am slow when it comes to getting to know people. Kenneth is also slow, but I’m slower, facing people that I don’t really know, I won’t take the initiative to know them, I won’t take the first step. I don’t know what I should say, so I give others the feeling that there’s a “wall”. Kenneth and I get along well because we have similar minds. We both are artistic in acting, acting is a type of art, towards the role, script and the details, we have high expectations. Sometimes we get stubborn and think that our own opinions are the best, but it’s not that we don’t listen to what others have to say, just that the person needs to get our trust in order to do so. Can’t just have so many opinions without any reason. It is necessary for an artist to be artistic in their acting.

Kenneth: Yes! Some of my admired seniors who give me advice, I would especially pay attention. Just as Kevin said, if I see someone who has no reason, but comes and tries to teach me how to act, I would think “stop playing with me”.

Outside of work, men often like to talk about girls. Kenneth exposes that Kevin loves girls that are challenging. Kevin expressed that Kenneth likes good obedient girls. Their tastes are different, no need to fight for a girl.

Kenneth: I know exactly what Kevin’s taste is.

Kevin: I also know what your taste is! Haha! He likes good obedient girls!

Kenneth: Kevin likes girls who give off a sense of challenge! The girls he likes are what an average guy thinks are hard to pursue, so we won’t fight for girls. I don’t really like girls who are hard to get, I like the comfortable factor. Sometimes when my big brother (Kevin) and I see a girl, we would do some commenting. I ask him, “Big Brother is she ok?”, he would say: “Your taste!”

Kevin: Not like that, the girls Kenneth likes are good girls and are nice!

Kenneth: Opposite of Kevin’s preference on girls, his personality is quiet and doesn’t say much. I think in many girls’ eyes, he is quite a challenge as well. Many girls feel that this person is hard to get, it’s not any girl who tries to pursue him will be successful. Although its not common for a girl to pursue a guy, pursuing Kevin will not be easy and it’s the same with work, he has high expectations on girls.

Kevin: There are two ways to relationships. People pick you, you pick people. Others will also have high expectations on you. It goes both ways. Are the success chances high on the girls I pursue? I had quite a bit of girls pursing me, Hahaha! I’m also not easy to pursue, dead yet?! Haha, just kidding!

The type of girls they like, does these included their rumored girlfriends Charmaine Sheh and Nancy Wu? When the two heard their names, their facial expression immediately changed. Asked how would they describe their relationship with Charmaine and Nancy? The two good bothers said they are friends. Kevin elaborated: “Colleagues and Friends, never changed.”

Have been in the entertainment circle for several years, towards dealing with troubling situations, at first would be resistance towards them, but later slowly began to take it easy to avoid damaging their health.

Kevin: The public are rather more concerned about the private lives of the people in the entertainment industry. Sometimes truth, sometimes false! Don’t need to say what is real or not, haha! I understand what the readers are thinking, but we want to protect our personal space as much as we can. If two people from the entertainment circle are dating, then the focus would be on their relationship, while their efforts towards work would be neglected. If the other half is from outside of the industry, that person would also suffer the pressure, with the media investigating their background, not everyone can accept this. I will choose to protect my private life, until we are both comfortable with our relationship that I will announce it, like when I get marry. However, when we have kids, we’re afraid of exposing them to the public, what if they get kidnapped? Who is to blame then? I am thinking far, but if we get photographed in the future, I do hope that the photo would be censored (blurred)!

Kenneth: I used to really oppose to rumors, no matter if its real or not, I would oppose it. There was one senior who told me that being in this industry, I have to accept it. Now if the stories aren’t written too nasty, then I don’t mind. I’ll just treat it as news that gets me on the papers. Artists also hope to have a love life, meeting a girl and wanting to develop the relationship, there are stages. The worst is when we just became friends, the media writes all these stories about us, saying that we are getting married, having kids, even saying that we’re cheating on the girl. I don’t think that is too good, can’t even develop a relationship normally. It’s hard.

Kevin: Just having dinner together, then we’re dating. Anyone would be frightened! What kind of girl would dare to go out with you alone? There’s no way to control it. But, I’m currently focused on my career. Men have it better than women, even if we are older, we can still have kids, relationships, so not in a hurried for marriage. My mom is not even rushing me, what am I rushing about? Let fate take its course!

Kenneth: Patience. My mother has never rushed me, she only said that theres not enough money to make, so cute!

Kevin: In the future when I get marry, I will definitely have kids. If I have a daughter as cute as “Man Ling Mui Mui”, then that be amazing! Even the father loses to the daughter’s hands, I’ll faint by all the daughter’s girly sweet voice (“deh”)!

Sharon Chan and Chris Lai reveal that the entertainment circle only has healthy competition

January 12, 2010 at 3:27 am (chris lai, sharon chan, Uncategorized)

TVB series “Beauty of the Game” talks about TV stars doing bad things to one another in order to be the best. Reflecting the dark side of the entertainment circle. Sharon Chan and Chris Lai both feel that the circle isn’t as bad as people think. Sharon stated that the current Fa Dan’s are good friends. There is only healthy competition and no such thing as competing to be the best.

In the series Sharon portrays a drug addict actress who competes with Kate Tsui and Christine Ng. Sharon expressed that she has never encountered incidents from the series in real life. She said “I don’t think the entertainment circle is that complicated. My life does not contain the words “Don’t get along” because I feel if something is wrong we should discuss it”. (Which industry is most complicated?) “I hear that movie and music industries have the most social events. The TV industry rarely has night life”. (Is the Fa Dan competition very big?) “It’s healthy competition, currently the Fa Dan’s are very playful, such as Tavia Yeung and Myolie Wu. We have a lot of fun and we encourage each other and are very happy”.

Chris Lai feels that the entertainment circle isn’t the only industry that is complicated. He said “I have had many jobs, such as working in a book store, bank and then working in the entertainment circle. I feel that the entertainment circle is most simple compared to the others. A lot of the time you need connections however the audience can see things clearly and fairly. Just like Wayne Lai (Chai Gao) he performed very natural and the audience supports that”.

In addition, the pair play a couple in the series, will they also choose to date someone from the entertainment industry? Sharon said “If I choose someone from the industry I would choose Kenneth Ma and Chris Lai because they are more innocent compared to other guys. They also take care of their parents. But I rather not choose someone from the industry because I don’t want to talk about work while we are dating”. Chris doesn’t mind whether they are within the industry or not, most important is that she is easy going and understands him.

Kate Tsui likes to kiss guys with thick lips

December 25, 2009 at 4:18 pm (kate tsui)

Kate Tsui accepted an interview with Commercial Radio yesterday. Sammi Leung asked Kate which type of lips that she likes to be kissed by a guy. Kate revealed that Kenneth Ma was the first person she kissed when she entered the entertainment circle. His lips are too thin, not her type, she feels more comfortable to kiss a guy with thick lips. Kate also disclosed that she had kissed Raymond Lam, Sammul Chan and Ron Ng. She will have a chance to kiss Bosco Wong later on. Once, she kissed Ron Ng in a series, he complained about her.”He said I put too much lip gloss on, it was sticky and it smeared all over his lips.” Kate told Sammy that she likes to kiss guys with thick lips, but can’t stand guys with mustache. However, if that person is Johnny Depp, that would be different.

Sharon Chan and Kenneth Ma believe Amigo Chui isn’t that type of person

December 25, 2009 at 4:16 pm (sharon chan) ()

Sharon Chan and Kenneth Ma were shooting for “Starry Kitchen”. As for Amigi Chui’s recent news incident, both of them believe that he isn’t that type of person. Kenneth stated that it’s unfair to Amigo since he’s not made an public appearance and we haven’t got his version of the incident. He hopes things will end soon. Sharon said “It’s not right for a man to beat up a woman. I believe he isn’t that type of person. He is very close to his colleagues. He is a good person. I wasn’t there so can’t comment”.

Comments: Glad to see Sharon & Kenneth on Starry Ktichen 😀 About Amigo, well, I don’t think he’s innocent of the ‘crime’ but I do find Elizabeth and her display of old SMS and pictures and coming out so publicly about it kinda suspicious…seems like a publicity tactic to me..iono…I’m not saying it didn’t happen, but that it seems like she’s milking it and totally trying to ruin Amigo’s career…

TVB Anniversary Awards Presentation 2009

December 6, 2009 at 1:12 am (anniversary, linda chung)

First of all, I’m really glad Kenneth fixed his hair in time for the Awards show. Haha. He always does! For the past few functions he’s been sporting some weird and messy hairstyle and I’ve noticed he always does this the months before the TVB ceremony and then gets it fixed in time! H/e I still don’t think this is his best hairstyle. I don’t know which is my fav tho. Considering Bernice & Raymond didn’t show up for the anniversary and that Linda and Kenneth are gonna be in “Here Comes the Princess” together, I guess this does make sense that they are walking down the carpet together However, no offense, but Linda looks awful! What is she wearing? Why would she do that? Last year, she surprised us w/ a sexy black dress, w/ some spideryweb like arm piece (that still looked ok), but this year she has totally loss her mind! Were they playing a trick on her? I kept looking at Linda that I couldn’t even judge Kenneth’s outfit haha..his weird ties! (I liked his outfit last year better tho)

This year was particularly plagued w/ bad outfits. I don’t understand why some ppl wear what they wear to these events. ~coughs Lisa Wang coughs~ Really, what are ppl thinking? Off to another topic, it seems to me, TVB has made Kenneth Raymond’s understudy lol. First, they replace him w/ Kenneth for Iron Horse, and now as Linda’s partner? Not that it’s a bad thing since Raymond is like TVB’s love child…I guess they see Kenneth as capable and of status to replace Raymond. (Can you imagine Raymond standing next to Linda on this nite?! haha. I remember how small Ray looked next to Linda last year…if he had been here this year, it would sure look funnier!)

Interesting to see Kenneth walk with Liza and the popular “Laughing Gor” in last. I’m not sure if that’s an acknowledgement of his status or just a we had to fit u two tall “Ma’s” somewhere. He did get to stand in the middle tho when they were saying the Motto, so that’s cool!

Can he look any cuter? haha. Kenneth always looks so goofy! Those are pix fans took after the show, ah, driving away in his car….too bad he’s not driving Raymond Wong home this year! Darnit! Then, I’d have a pic of two hotties! 😀

The Mysteries of Love

December 6, 2009 at 12:30 am (shall we state the case, the mysteries of love, tvb anniversary)

Shall We State the Case has officially changed its name to The Mysteries of Love. It’s ok, it’s such a typical TVB series name though. The sales presentation clip looks pretty cool. I wanted more MaMing tho. Tavia is adorable, Ray’s just ray..and wow BK! Bernice looks stunning and I see Kenneth and her have a very sweet nose-to-nose kiss! I really cannot wait for the series to air, which will be like next year probably! I hope we don’t see too much of Kenneth and the other girls…i want it to be Bernice & Kenneth….!

I still can’t get over how cute they look!

OT: Congrats to Wayne, Sheren, & Tavia for their awards! I’m so happy for them! Though I am disappointed that Sharon & Raymond Wong did not get the Most Improved (but that was expected..after MaMing got his, I no longer cared…though I was happy about Nancy’s – and here I though Nancy would join Bernice, Selena, & Sharon in never getting one)… Also, what is wrong w/ TVB? How can Born Rich not be in the Top 5 series?! BFIII was atrocious…I can’t imagine how it made it! ew… haha. But I’m happy Kenneth made Top 5 for Best Supporting Actor!

Kenneth Ma’s childhood wish was to become professional soccer player

November 21, 2009 at 5:20 am (news)

Lee San San, Kenneth Ma and Derek Kwok attended a soccer team event at Tsing Yi Sports Ground for the <Four Corner Soccer Tournament> press conference. San San will be the cheerleader for the team at the tournament, giving support to the players. San San is the only girl who is part of the team, she expressed that she likes the communication she has with the players. Asked who she likes the most in the team? San San laughed and said that she’s familiar with all of them and will not take the initiative to pursue a guy. Also she is the only girl in the team, she can just wait for a guy to ask her out.

Translated by: aZnangel @ http://asianuniverse.net/forums/

Kenneth is also a long time lover of soccer, yesterday he attended the even and participated in the game play as well. Turns out that his childhood wish was to become a professional soccer player, at the time his mother scolded him loudly and said that soccer players don’t earn enough to support the family. When he grew up he understood his mother’s reason and the Hong Kong soccer teams do not have very good development compared to other countries. If in the future he has a son and he wants to develop a career as a professional soccer player, he will definitely send him to Europe to train.
